Privacy Policy

1. Who we are
Node Group Ltd ("we", "us", "our") is the data controller for personal data processed in connection with Keyfire and the keyfire.app website. Registered office: [REGISTERED_ADDRESS_PLACEHOLDER]. Company number: [COMPANY_NUMBER_PLACEHOLDER]. Contact: [SUPPORT_EMAIL_PLACEHOLDER].
2. What we collect
We collect the following personal data:
- Purchase information: When you buy a Keyfire licence, our payment provider Paddle collects your name, email address, billing address, and payment details. Paddle shares your name and email address with us so we can deliver your licence key and provide support.
- Licence activation: When you activate a licence key in Keyfire, we record the licence key, the email it is tied to, and the activation timestamp.
- Update checks: Keyfire periodically checks for updates by requesting our update manifest hosted on GitHub. GitHub may log standard request metadata (IP address, user agent).
- Support correspondence: If you email us, we retain the contents of that correspondence to provide support.
- Website analytics: keyfire.app may use privacy-respecting analytics to understand aggregate traffic. No personally identifying information is stored.
- Anonymous usage telemetry: The Keyfire app sends us a once-daily summary containing the date, counts of actions fired that day broken down by type (text expansions, macros, typed text, app launches, URLs, folders and quick search), counts of how many of each feature you have configured, your plan tier (free, trial or Pro), and the app version. It contains no content, no account details, and no device or install identifiers, so we cannot link it to you or to any other day's summary. We do not log or store the IP address these requests arrive from. You can turn telemetry off at any time in Settings (Privacy & Security), and Keyfire then sends nothing.
3. What we do NOT collect
- Keyfire does not transmit your keystrokes, clipboard contents, macro definitions, or text expansions to us or any third party. All such data is stored locally on your device.
- Keyfire's detailed local usage analytics are stored in a local SQLite database on your machine. The only part sent to us is the once-daily anonymous summary described in section 2, and only if you have not turned telemetry off.
4. Why we process your data
- To deliver your licence and provide the Software (legal basis: contract)
- To provide customer support (legal basis: legitimate interest)
- To deliver updates and security fixes (legal basis: legitimate interest)
- To comply with tax and accounting obligations (legal basis: legal obligation)
5. Third parties
We share limited data with:
- Paddle (paddle.com) — payment processing, Merchant of Record
- GitHub (github.com) — software distribution and update delivery
- Netlify (netlify.com) — website hosting
- Featurebase (featurebase.app) — public feedback and feature requests (only if you choose to participate)
6. Data retention
We retain purchase and licence data for as long as your licence is active, and for up to 7 years thereafter to meet tax and accounting obligations. Support correspondence is retained for up to 3 years.
7. International transfers
Some of our processors (e.g. GitHub, Netlify) are based outside the UK. Where personal data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards including standard contractual clauses or adequacy decisions.
8. Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data

10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified via the website or via email if you are a licensed user.
